Hezbollah (meaning "Party of God") is a Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and militant group backed by Iran. Founded in 1982, Hezbollah maintains significant military capabilities in southern Lebanon and is a key component of Iran's "Axis of Resistance." Since October 2023, Hezbollah has engaged in cross-border exchanges with Israel, leading to evacuations on both sides of the border.
