UNSC Resolution

A formal decision adopted by the United Nations Security Council. Resolutions can be binding on all UN member states (under Chapter VII of the UN Charter) or non-binding recommendations. In the context of conflict, UNSC resolutions may demand ceasefires, establish peacekeeping missions, impose sanctions, or refer situations to the International Criminal Court. Permanent member vetoes frequently block action on politically sensitive conflicts.
