Sanctions

Sanctions are coercive measures imposed by states or international bodies to pressure a target government, entity, or individual to change behavior. They can include economic restrictions (trade embargoes, asset freezes), travel bans, and arms embargoes. Sanctions are a key tool of conflict-related diplomacy and can be imposed unilaterally by individual countries or collectively through UN Security Council resolutions.
