The Palestinian Authority is the governing body established by the Oslo Accords in 1994 to administer parts of the West Bank and, originally, the Gaza Strip. The PA is internationally recognized as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, though its authority has been limited since Hamas seized control of Gaza in 2007. The PA is led by President Mahmoud Abbas and the Fatah party.
