Venezuela earthquakes: Why is Caracas so vulnerable?

Two powerful earthquakes, a magnitude 7.2 and a 7.5 tremor, struck west of Caracas on Wednesday, causing extensive damage and killing 235 people nationwide, with thousands injured.
