Russian strike on ship near Odesa kills 10, Ukraine hits Moscow with drones

A Russian strike on a Guinea-Bissau-flagged ship loaded with corn near Odesa killed at least 10 people, according to Ukraine’s seaports authority. The vessel had a crew from India and Syria; eight crew members were rescued. Russian strikes in the Odesa region killed 28 people in July alone, regional governor Oleh Kiper said. Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed its forces hit fuel reservoirs at Odesa’s port. In retaliation, Ukraine launched hundreds of drones at Moscow and the surrounding region overnight, wounding at least 10 people and setting buildings on fire. Separately, Ukrainian drone forces commander Robert Brovdi said that on Sunday night, Ukrainian drones struck seven Russian vessels in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov — three tankers and four dry cargo ships — bringing the total for July to 183, and also hit seven substations in Russian-occupied Crimea.
