Military police : Veteran Israel Air Force commanders abused young commanders

Israeli military police have exposed a pattern of abuse by veteran Israel Air Force commanders who subjected younger officers to violent "initiation ceremonies," resulting in indictments against four commanders who received sentences ranging from 26 to 50 days detention, suspended sentences of 45 days to three months, demotion to Private, and fines of 500–1,500 shekels, KAN reported Thursday. The IDF stated it maintains a "zero-tolerance policy" on violence and has investigated the allegations thoroughly; separately, the military prosecution indicted two Sergeant First Class personnel for smuggling goods into Gaza and tax offenses following a joint investigation by Shin Bet, Israel Police, and the Tax Authority.
