Inside the Nativ program training IDF soldiers to join the tribe

The IDF's Nativ program, established in 2000, provides religious education and facilitates conversion for approximately 2,300 soldiers annually who identify as Jewish but lack halachic (Jewish law) recognition, with over 58,000 soldiers having enrolled and nearly 20,000 completing conversion through the army. The six-week course covers Torah, Jewish law, and history, followed by two additional three-week modules and a rabbinical court conversion process, with program head Eliezer Levine noting that 47 percent of enrolled students complete the formal conversion.
