The UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan released a report on Thursday documenting external support to both warring parties. It found transnational recruitment and supply networks provided weapons, military technology, and fighters to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), including up to 2,000 former Colombian military contractors who directly operated combat drones, artillery, and advanced weapons alongside RSF units in Darfur and Kordofan. Witnesses reported fighters from South Sudan, Chad, and Ethiopia, including women, serving in frontline roles. The report said there were reasonable grounds to believe the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) used foreign-supplied drones in operations that harmed civilians and civilian infrastructure. It documented RSF drone strikes in Kalogi, South Kordofan, killing 114 people, and army strikes in Ad-Da'ein, East Darfur, killing at least 70 people and destroying a major hospital. Repeated RSF drone strikes in el-Obeid, North Kordofan, between July and August, may amount to war crimes, according to the report.
