Fighting widens across Ethiopia as Tigray clashes escalate

Fighting escalated across northern Ethiopia on Wednesday as Tigrayan forces clashed with federal troops, with both sides accusing the other of launching a full-scale offensive involving infantry, drones, and mechanised units. The intensification of hostilities follows the formation of a new alliance of seven Ethiopian armed movements, raising fears of a wider regional conflict and prompting calls for a ceasefire from IGAD and concern from the UN.
