Deadly Sudan drone strike targets funeral procession

What Happened

On the evening of Wednesday, a drone strike targeted a funeral procession at a cemetery in el-Obeid, North Kordofan, killing at least four people and injuring several others, according to the Sudan Doctors Network and Emergency Lawyers. Both groups attributed the attack to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Emergency Lawyers reported that the strike was part of a series of drone attacks starting that evening, which killed at least 23 people in total. Drones also struck homes in a residential neighbourhood, the airport district, and areas near an army base, with 13 civilians killed when they gathered near destroyed houses, the group said. Five civilians were killed in earlier attacks. On Thursday, a lorry driver transporting food supplies died when his vehicle was struck, both groups reported. The RSF has not commented on the allegations. El-Obeid is under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
